iBC (integrated Biology and Chemistry) Summer RetreatiBC (integrated Biology and Chemistry) Summer RetreatVirden Conference Center in Lewes, DEISLL will be holding its first iBC (integrated Biology and Chemistry) Summer Retreat on June 26, 27 and 28, 2017, at the University of Delaware's Virden Conference Center, located in Lewes, DE. The retreat will be an excellent opportunity to welcome two new Biology and potentially one new Chemistry Faculty to our team and to continue our efforts to enhance interdisciplinarity and student-centered learning in our program. The retreat will have the participation of the iBC teaching team, ISLL’s support staff and University administrators such as College of Arts and Sciences Dean George Watson, Associate Dean for Natural Sciences, John Pelesko, and the Department Chairs for Biological Sciences, Robin Morgan and Chemistry and Biochemistry, Murray Johnston. These three days will be filled with team building activities and group discussions on topics such as interdisciplinary curriculum, teaching materials and activities, active learning teaching practices, program logistics, long-term strategic goals, etc. The expected retreat outcomes are: 1. Redefined Common Overarching iBC Goals; 2. Strategies and Tasks to achieve Goals and Objectives; 3.
