From the Scopes “Monkey Trial” in 1925 when a teacher was arrested for teaching evolution, to 2005 when a Dover, Pennsylvania school district’s mandate to teach intelligent design was challenged, controversy has raged over issues of science and religion, free speech and academic freedom.
Join us for a day exploring these issues.
Speakers include:
•John E. Jones, III, judge in the Dover trial
•Joan DelFattore, emeritus professor of English
•John Jungck, professor of Biological and Mathematical Sciences
•Sandy Robbins, REP producing artistic director
The day culminates with a matinee of the UD REP production of Inherit the Wind.
